Zeenat's entry into the Hindi film industry spelt a definite departure for its conventional heroines who strictly adhered to the sati-savitri image.

Zeenat Aman undertook certain very bold roles that even today's heroines would not have the guts to do. One such role was in Shammi Kapoor's 'Manoranjan'.

In Raj Kapoor's 'Satyam Shivam Sundaram' Zeenat enacted certain very bold scenes but made it clear that she had done it only for 'Rajji'. Many thought that she was exploited by the veteran director but she differed saying that every bit of the film was beautiful and far removed from obscenity.

Zeenat was criticized for her daring portrayals but she was undeterred. She did certain meaningful roles including 'Insaaf ka Taraazu' where she played a vindictive rape victim.

After failed relationships with Imran Khan and the married Sanjay Khan, Zeenat again fell in love and married an already married and divorced Mazhar.

Her marital happiness was short-lived and cracks started appearing in her marriage. She and Mazhar fell apart. Mazhar fell ill shortly. Zeenat supported her husband all through his illness and later registered a talaq.

The actress went through a lot of mental turmoil in her personal life but held on to the responsibility towards her two sons.

Mazhar died. Zeenat has moved back to her own south Mumbai flat and is trying to come back to terms with life after Mazhar's death and a string of turbulations.

Zeenat will keep herself busy with social work mainly and probably appearing in a few television serials. Most importantly, concentrating on her two little boys.
